Bridges Area Learning Center Coordinator Dave Brown attended a recent meeting with a former student to discuss the STRIVE program that pairs students with adult mentors. STRIVE was invented right here in our district, District 5960, by Rotarian Don Mooney of the White Bear Lake Rotary Club. STRIVE is a program for high school juniors and seniors who have faced some academic challenges but want to make the most of their last year of high school. Said Brown, "The STRIVE program, in my mind, is and has been one of the most instrumental components of public education that I have been a part of." Said Manny P. about the program, "Being a mentor is gratifying, knowing that you did make a difference." Said Pam K., "Being a STRIVE mentor allows me listen to someone that needs to be heard, and to just be there for them."
