Alexa Rundquist, Emergency Preparedness Specialist with the Scott County Medical Reserve Corps, spoke at the club meeting on 11/14/2012 about her organization.  Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) are composed of health care professionals and others who provide services in response to public health emergency situations.  The MRC program was created after President Bush's 2002 State of the Union Address, in which he asked all Americans to volunteer in support of their country.  The need for trained supplemental medical and public health personnel to assist with emergency operations was highlighted after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
