A year ago, John Parrish stepped into the role of club president for the Prior Lake Rotary Club. He feels it was a positive experience, but it is time for someone else to take the lead. Some may think the president’s job is a commitment of only a couple of hours on Wednesday mornings. John can tell you that is not true. In John's estimation, this year has been successful in that he accomplished many of the things he felt were important for the club. He might also tell you that he could not have done it without guidance from the club administrator, Darcy Rose.
John attended board meetings once a month, our weekly club meetings, multiple conference and guidance calls with Darcy, and inquiries from many people each week. Presidents are also known to attend committee meetings as well.
When asked if he felt he accomplished all his goals for his term he said for the most part he had. He feels that getting the issue of breakfast meals and coffee was one of the things the club expected of him. Some of the other things he mentioned that were important were making weekly meetings enjoyable, making them something members would want to regularly attend, and making them either informative or entertaining or both. With the help of the program committee, John said we had a good variety of programs that were entertaining and informative. This is one of the things that contributed to his goal of increasing regular attendance of members and guests. As John stated, “Meetings and programs should be designed to energize members to go out in the world and do the good things we do.”
Job well done John Parrish!
