Where Do Eggs Come From?

Today, our meeting speaker was Britta Schnell and Jim Wade. They shared the story of Sparboe Farms in Litchfield, MN.

Hatched in 1954, Sparboe Farms started as a day-old chick company and has grown over the last 58 years to become one of the top 10 egg companies in the United States. They provide wholesome, safe, affordable eggs for families. They care for their hens and their land. They produce conventional white, brown, cage-free and organic eggs.

Egg Facts:

1. About 280 million laying hens produce some 60 billion eggs each year in the U.S. That's roughly one hen for every man, woman, and child in the country.

2. Average American eats 247 eggs per year.

3. A hen lays one egg roughly everyone 25 hours.
